(Belated) happy new year Hannah and yay congratulations of the news! Enjoy the cheeses that can be eaten. Seems like France is a good place to be pregnant. ;)
PS also congrats on getting to some Murakami. ;) I hope you get to enjoy some of his fiction at some point. Norwegian Wood is a good and safe place to start, before launching into the wildly wonderful and weird Wind-Up Bird or 1Q84.
Congratulations! Fascinated to learn more about the French approach to le bébé. I spent six months of my pregnancy in Germany and three in Sweden, and there was quite a contrast between approaches. Also had fun finding out what I must not eat UNLESS I was in a country where the same foodstuff was highly recommended.
Congratulations Hannah what lovely news! I hope you’re doing well.
No ideas for names for your explorers club but if you venture to the 16e I highly recommend No. 41 on Avenue Mozart, which used to be my local (😢 still miss it). And the crêperie Breizh Cafe in Passy along with a walk down the old railway track and through Ranelagh park.
I’ve had What I think about when I’m running on my shelf for ages. This might be the year for it, as i’m contemplating a 10k 😊
Huge congratulations to you and yours! <3 On the French attitude to pregnancy, I remember when I worked in a restaurant many years ago and a pregnant woman asked me to check with the kitchen which of the cheeses on the cheeseboard were pasteurised, one by one, until she got through the entire list and determined they were all too risky, so she'd just take a bottle of wine.
ON MY!!!! Hannah my heart is filled with gladness for you! The bravest thing a person can do is to become a parent! I was nearly 40 before our 1st child was born...never had the courage before that...nearly 43 before our 2nd child was born.
The best advice I can give once you and your partner return home WITH the baby is to try to sleep when the baby sleeps. The 2nd best advice I can offer is that less parenting is better parenting. And don't give this topsy-turvy world space to rent between your ears; you are carrying a child who has just hit the life-lottery to have you and your partner as parents...may your child be blessed with the best of luck always!
Here is some GREAT advice when everyone is trying to help you raise your child; from the GREAT French movie, Attila Marcel... "Ni l'un ni l'autre"
Congratulations!
Thank you!

Norwegian Wood is definitely on my to-read list now!
