I so relate to procrastinating about doing things I know I will love! There are some tasks / films that are so perfectly made for me that I feel I can't consume them yet - perhaps because I still get to look forward to them? Really enjoyed learning I'm not the only one! X

Great read Hannah! Ooh yes, soot on with the joyful procrastination. Once every six weeks I treat myself to a loveely mani pedi and vibrant hair colour root re touch( a d always JUST before a visit to Paris where you are all immaculately turned out. Should I spend the full three hours in the nail salon?

Break it down to two sessions? Is it worth going on the 30 min drive twice along the magnificent clear as mirrored glass Loch Eck?

Luxurious retiree problems which are no problems at all!

Love the sound of your delightful " Seasonal" parties🤗❤️

Look forward to procrastinating over opening the delicious substack from you next week! Xx

My favorite words, slang or sentiments from this newsletter:

“Hiberno-English…“anglaise”… “Londonienne”… the forever housemate of my heart…eating crisps and talking about important things like love, politics and haircare…catchy titles like ‘Winter warmer’, ‘Spring drinks’…calling us, (un)fittingly, “mes anglaises”… subject to my eyebrows staying under control in the final edit…”

Procrastination: “We decided the best strategy, therefore, was to create a faux number-one goal as a decoy e.g. ‘starting a new career in investment banking’ or ‘becoming a trail runner’…”

Procrastination is about “putting off until tomorrow…” I cringe at setting “goals”…possibly because I am, as one half-drunk, observant, wise and, not beautiful, but totally attractive middle-aged acquaintance told me while walking up Beale Street in Memphis, “Do you know what YOU are?! You’re nothing but a DILETTANTE!”

Goals are not the bailiwick of the dilettante. And “tomorrow” is not a word I use at age 70. Each morning I am greeted by “a day without yesterday.” So, there is no guilt about what was unfinished, because everything starts brand new, like the creation of the Universe…

I would say that “dilettante” may be the French-est of French words…
